La Brea Tar Pits

Little do we know, but in the middle of Los Angeles one can find La Brea Tar Pits. This beautiful park is free for public and there is a small fee to enter the museum, but you can use AAA/student id to receive a discount.

Mysterious, fascinating and yet green and relaxing, this park it's a must visit place where you can learn about bones of prehistoric animals.

And it's still active tar pit!

The J. Paul Getty Museum

One of my favorite things in L.A. is visiting parks and museums and The Getty Museum is one of L.A's top destinations.

Getty's amazing garden is full of intricate design and symmetry.

Gorgeous flowers

and lush moss.

It's an escape from the city, where everyone can forget and relax in the tranquility of this perfect garden.

Sit down, enjoy, get inspired.

The brilliance is in its simplicity and planning.

I wish there was more places like this all over L.A.

Driving south on Normandie or Vermont the landscape becomes harsh and unfamiliar. Cracked buildings and lack of regular businesses are the most striking urban characteristics, like this Sam's Watermelons shack. 

Or this forgotten bakery. 

Or this forgotten bus stop. 

Hopefully renovation will come soon.

Ahhh! Palm Trees!

First thing that comes to mind when I think of California are palm tress. Most of us are used to them as a normal part of the landscape, but I am always fascinated how long long time ago some urban planner (or not) decided to plant them in a perfectly straight line down the streets. It never seize to amaze me.

There is nothing better than walking down Melrose and see a gentle creative reminder that the only hero we have left is Barrack Obama. 

This young artist creates graffiti at the Venice Beach boardwalk visited daily by thousands of people. We must sustain and exercise our freedom of expression, especially 22 days before the Presidential Elections.

Paletero Man in Echo Park

Echo Park Lake it's a wonderful oasis in the center of Los Angeles best known for its violent gang past. This beautiful park attracts locals to rest in its green oasis surrounded by calm water and ducks.

The best way to start this blog is with a memory of passing summer, El Paletero Man in Echo Park. Conveniently, local paleteros provide cold ice creams straight to your place on the grass. This exchange serves both parties. And with extra cash in his pocket paletero makes his way around the park leaving you with a cold coconut ice-cream without moving from you spot in the park.
